With the number of cyclists in Australia steadily increasing, and the steps taken by major cities around the country to become more bicycle-friendly, Australia is very quickly becoming a hit amongst cyclists. Whether it’s a casual ride to and from work everyday, or an easy Sunday ride by the river side, you are sure to see plenty of Aussies out and about on bikes.
In Australia public transport can cost anywhere between $2000 – $2500 on average every year. This makes riding a bike a very cheap alternative. Adding to that, riding a bike is:
- Good for your physical and mental health.
- Good for the environment – you can help bring down the carbon footprint.
- Reliable (no more waiting for buses or trains, and no more traffic jams) and,
- A great way to explore the city.

Bike Lanes
Designated bike lanes and tracks have been built all over specially for the convenience of cyclists. Normally bicycle lanes are built along train tracks and train stations have facilities to park bicycles safely. You may also find several ‘Bicycle Boulevards’ that give bicycles priority over other vehicles.
