A Guide For Planning Your Packing

Home Guides Get Going

Are you moving to Australia soon? Things to pack when moving permanently are different than what you will pack while traveling. Here is the answer to your question what to pack while migrating to Australia.

Absolute Essentials To Pack

You must not forget to pack these items –

  1. Passport
  2. Visa
  3. Air ticket
  4. details for your initial accommodation
  5. Australian Currency(Forex) or travel card or international debit card.
  6. Your job experience letter
  7. your driving licence and Extract of driving licence(if required)
  8. All educational certificate (Scanned copies are accepted as well)

Packing your clothes

Australians believe in the expression – ‘act and dress as though you are in your next role’.

Office wear policies could be different from company to company but you’ll find people appropriately dressed in Australian Offices. Most of the time people don’t need to have to wear a tie or a business wear for work; business casuals are fine but nobody wears shorts to work.

When you are not in office based on the weather conditions you can wear any casual clothing.

Packing Electronics

The standard voltage in Australia is 220V/ 50 Hz; and flat pin adapters are used.

Do not forget to pack these items in your bag –

  • Your personal electronic gadgets like mobile phone, tab, camera, iPad or laptops.
*If you have any of these sealed then carry receipt of purchase with you.
  • If your cooking involves grinding and you heavily rely on mixer-grinders it is recommended to bring your own. Sometimes it is hard to find a suitable grinder here.

What To Pack For Your Kitchen

In most of the Australian cities, there are country-specific grocery stores selling authentic kitchen essentials. Also, the supermarkets keep stock of essential ingredients for cuisine like Indian, Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Thai and many others.
In the grocery stores sometime you will find the necessary kitchen utensils.

We still want to suggest few things which you can pack while coming to Australia.

  • Pressure cooker
  • Few small steel utensils
  • Rolling pins and board.
  • Spice-mixes in a small portion.
*Make sure that you write the ingredients to make the spice mix on the container; at quarantine, you might be asked for it.

Do not pack these food items:

  • Food items containing milk.
  • Food items which may spill.
  • Beans, peas, cereal seeds, nuts.
